We’ve all seen it. The advice columns, the books, the movies, the articles, the myriads of publications dedicated to helping women and men understand each other.
What Men Really Think, Why Don’t You Notice My Hair? and Other Frequently Asked Questions, He’s Just Not That Into You, A Guide to Understanding Women, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus are just a few examples.
These articles, books and films propagate, promote and thrive on the idea that women and men are different. Not only are they different but they need some guidance on how to understand each other. If these publications represent the ideas of the general public then no wonder we don’t have equality. It would be impossible to create equality between groups that are so inherently different.
