These last few posts have highlighted just some of the arenas that influence ideas of men and women and how these influences play on the differences between the two genders. These generalizations of women and men, highlighting the physical differences, move us away from the core of our identity. In our capacities and talents, the qualities that we can use to serve our communities, men and women are equal. The soul has no gender. By focusing on the physical, on the material, we are moving away from the spiritual qualities that allow for equality.

How do we recognize difference without glorifying it, obscuring commonalities or creating divisions between people? How do we develop our primary identity by taking into consideration our spiritual reality and our connection with others?
