The document makes clear that we are living in a world of rampant conflict and injustice and gender inequality is just one of the many symptoms of an ailing world order. I think its important to remind ourselves sometimes that our current social order is just not good enough. It promotes conflict, insecurity, violence and the pursuit of narrow self interests. Yet just being aware of these realities is only the first step towards a solution. We need a “profound questioning of the assumptions underpinning the social systems and world views that enable and perpetuate these conditions.” Otherwise we’ll never move forward. Equality of women and men cannot come about in a broken system.
How do we start to question the forces that impact society? and following up on a previous post, how do we question in a way that is constructive and not simply questioning everything that is around us?
